1. Players will not wear earrings, finger rings, watches or any
other form of jewelry (seen or unseen) while on the playing field,
in dugouts, or during practices or games. No bracelets or
necklaces are allowed unless it’s for medical reasons only.
2. No player playing the position of pitcher will wear sunglasses
unless they are prescription glasses.
3. Players should be in uniform, but consideration should be taken
for lost hats. If a player has registered after the league
deadline, he/she may not have received a jersey in time for the
first few games. The player should wear a T-shirt in the color of
the team uniform if he has one available.
4. Players should avoid contact at all times when base running.
Head-first sliding is not allowed, and players are not required to
slide.
5. Any player who purposely throws any piece of equipment should
be given a verbal warning. If the player commits a second offense,
he/she must sit out the next two innings. If the offense is at the
end of a game, that suspension will be enforced at the beginning
of the next scheduled game.
6. No player is permitted to berate or use any verbal sounds to
disturb the opposing player, coach, parent or person. This type of
behavior shall be grounds for immediate removal from the field.
Example: player saying “batter, batter, swing batter”, or “he is
an easy out” will not be permitted.
7. No player, coach, parent or any other person shall verbally abuse, berate, swear or intimidate any
player, coach, parent or person. THIS TYPE OF BEHAVIOR SHALL BE GROUNDS FOR
IMMEDIATE REMOVAL FROM THE FIELD.
8. Any coach or player who has been ejected from a game will be suspended for the next seven
days. Any coach or player ejected a second time from a game will be suspended from all MYBA
play for the remainder of the season. The second suspension will include regular season games
and post-season tournaments for all leagues with which the player or coach may be involved.
9. If a coach, player, parent or person has been removed from a game, the board’s approval may be
required before that individual is permitted to attend or be involved with a future game or
practice. Head coaches must report all occurrences to the appropriate division commissioner.
10. Game results and umpire judgment calls cannot be protested. Each head coach has the right to
file a complaint and the MYBA Board Members will address any actions that might need to be
taken. The majority of calls made by umpires are considered “judgment calls.” These calls
cannot be argued or protested.
11. Any complaints regarding umpires will require the proper procedure and form to be submitted
to the Director of Umpires and will be reviewed. The “MURF” form can be found on the
website under “Front Office/Documents”.
12. An Incident Report must be filled out by a coach detailing any injuries sustained by any player,
coach, or spectator. The report may be used to document any other type of incident the head
coach may deem necessary. The completed report must be forwarded to the division
commissioner within 24 hours of the occurrence.
13. Players are not allowed to swing a bat unless they are on the on deck circle. This is to prevent
injury in the bench or dugout area.
14. Every player shall be entered in the batting order. There shall be no changes to the batting order
once the game has begun, unless a change is required due to injury or illness occurring to a
player. Late arriving players may be added to the bottom of the line-up.
15. Any abuse of these rules should be reported to the division commissioner. If continued abuse of
these rule’s, commissioner will present to board for review for manager dismissal.
16. MANDATORY- No Exceptions: Any player playing in the catcher’s position must wear a
protective cup. Any player warming up a pitcher must wear a face mask and a protective cup.
17. No coach is permitted to change the season schedule. Only the division commissioner orhis
designated representative can make changes or adjustments to the schedule
18. Umpire Rules:
- The Umpire in Charge has the right to call or suspend a game due to weather. If there is
any lightning all players will be removed from the field immediately.
- The Umpire in Charge will declare a game a forfeit due to lack of players.
- The Umpire in Charge has the right to eject any player, coach, parent or person for
conduct reasons. Conduct reasons would include foul language, any physical contact with
an Umpire, player, coach, parent of person and any failure to heed an umpire's previous
warning.
- Coach Ejection: As an initial action, the Umpire will warn the coach and restrict him to
the dugout area. If poor conduct persists, the Umpire will eject the coach. Upon ejection,
the coach must leave the field. The coach will also, be suspended from the nextregularly
scheduled game.
19. 10U Division
- Each coach is provided with one dozen practice balls and one dozen game balls. Each
team will provide one new game ball for each game, which will be provided by MYBA
prior to the beginning of the season.
- Games will consist of a maximum of six (6) innings and last no longer than one hour and
fifty minutes. No inning may begin after the one hour and fifty-minute time limit. The
starting time of the game is the originally scheduled start time, unless due to weather.
- If the visiting team is ahead by at least ten runs after four innings, or the home team is
ahead by ten runs after three and one-half innings, the game will be called complete.
- Each half-inning consists of three outs or a maximum of 10 batters, except in the final
inning where there will be allowed a maximum of 14 batters. The final inning will either
be the 6th inning or when the umpire indicates that “this is the last inning”.
- When the tenth batter is at bat, the game is to be played as if there are two outs. A force
play ends the inning. The team at bat must notify the umpire that the tenth batter is up.
- With 2 outs and the batting teams catcher of record (the previous inning), is on base as a
base runner. Your allowed to pinch run for the catcher to allow him to get the protective
gear on to be ready for the next inning. This is to speed up the games. The player
recording the last out will be the pinch runner.
- Each team will have an official scorekeeper. After each half-inning, both scorekeepers
will compare scorebooks to ensure a correct score and batting order.
- The 10U Division regular season game can end with a tie score and that tie will be
submitted as part of the teams’ regular season records.
- The 10U Division will use ten (10) defensive players, with four players being in the
outfield.
- Each team must have a minimum of eight players to begin the game. Each team has until
the scheduled start time to fill the roster. Late arriving players will be added to the bottom
of the batting order, once revolved order-cannot enter. A forfeit will be recorded if a team
does not meet the minimum number of players. If game is forfeited, umpires will be
dismissed. Game time is from scheduled start time.
- Coaches must coach from the dugout and not from the field of play when on defense.
When a team is batting, only adult coaches are allowed in the coach’s boxes on the first
and third base side.
- Each pitcher will be allowed to pitch two consecutive innings or six consecutive outs and
throw no more than 65 pitches. Once a player has been removed from the pitcher’s
position, he is not permitted to pitch again during that particular game. A pitcher must be
removed after a coach meets with the pitcher for the second time in an inning.
- No pitcher is permitted to use any substance on the game ball that may change the flight
characteristics on the ball. Pitchers must also pitch from the rubber-no exceptions will be
made.
- A pitcher must be replaced after he has hit three batters in one game. The umpire should
issue a warning after the second hit batter. Coaches to advise umpires.
- Intentional walking of batters is not allowed in the 10U Division.
- Only one base is awarded to a base runner on an overthrow, regardless where the ball has
been thrown.
- If a batter hits a ball into the outfield, the batter and any other base runners may continue
to run until the infield controls the ball. If a base runner is between bases when the ball is
controlled, he/she may attempt to advance to the next base. Base coaches will not
encourage the base runner to continue to run after the ball has been thrown into the
infield.
- . If a player is injured and comes out of the game, he may miss an at-bat without penalty.
The offensive team will notify the opposing team that the injured player’s at bat will be
skipped. An out will not be recorded. If the injured player recovers, with the approval of
the coach, he may return to the game and will be re-inserted into the batting order in his
original position.
- There shall be NO LEAD-OFFS in the 10U Division.
- Base Stealing is only permitted after the ball reaches the catcher’s glove or passes the
catcher. No base runner may attempt to steal home plate, this is for safety reasons. The
catchers are encouraged to throw out the base runner when a base runner attempts to steal
a base, and there will be no advancement on overthrows. When a team is winning by 10
or more runs, that team is not permitted to steal unless the score goes under the 10 runs
- The infield fly rule will not be in effect. No player will sit out more than one consecutive
inning per game and no more than two innings per game, unless he/she is injured or isill.
Coaches will rotate turns for players between games for any 13-14 man rosters due to
some players will require possible 3 innings. It will not be the same players every game.
- Players should avoid contact at all times when base running. Headfirst sliding is not
allowed except to return to previously occupied base. Headfirst sliding on advancement is
an automatic out.
- No defensive player will stand on a base unless he/she is preparing to make a play at that
base. If the ball is not in the vicinity of the defensive player and he has deliberately
blocked the base runner from touching the base, in the umpire’s judgment, the base
runner will be awarded the base.
- Each team will have a BENCH COACH. The bench coach will assistwith the batting
order and field positions and help maintain bench discipline.
- All coaches will make every attempt to mover players throughout all positions.Coaches
will make every attempt to move players from outfield to infield throughout the game.
No player should play in the outfield more than two consecutive innings. Any abuse of
this should be reported to the division commissioner. If continued abuse of this rule,
commissioner will present to board for review for manager dismissal.
- If your team is short players, you are allowed to “call up” a player from the 8U
Division with both league commissioner’s approval and advance notice is needed. The
“call up” players must be placed at the bottom of the batting order; neither play the
pitcher or catcher position, and preferably plays the outfield positions for most of the
game. The team must have at least seven (7) of their own players and no more than two
(2) “call up” players. This is only for the regular season and not permitted in the playoffs.
- If no umpires have shown up to work a scheduled game within ten minutes after the
scheduled start time, each team will appoint one coach to umpire. That designated
coach/plate umpire must work from a position behind the pitcher. The home team
coach/umpire calls ball and strikes for innings 1, 3, and 5. The visiting team
coach/umpire calls balls and strikes for innings 2, 4, and 6, as needed.
- The year-end tournament is single elimination tournament and usually takes place the
week after the season is completed.
- Championship game will be identical formats and be played per regular season rules
(pending any addendums/rule updates that are agreed to by MYBA Board) with the
exception that 6 full innings will be played or SURRENDER RULE. Weather should
only postpone the completion of a game.
- Post season seeding will be ranked based on records of wins over losses. Any ties will be
based on TOTAL WINS, not percentages. Any ties will be broken in the following
order:
1. Head to Head winner
2. Best Conference record
3. Flip of coin by league commissioner
- “Call Up” players are not permitted in the post season.
